Tomás O’Leary
Tomás is a thought-leading, vocal and influential player in the secondary ICT market. Having spent over 15 years either working in IBM or in leading one of its more successful European business partners, in 2012 Tomás recognised the impact the major changes in the ICT market were having on the traditional enterprise ICT users and decided to give them something different – a choice!
Along with Rowan O’Donoghue, Tomás set up what is now one of Europe’s fastest growing self-funded software support companies, Origina. Origina is now recognised as the global leader in the independent third-party market for IBM software support and maintenance delivering a concierge service to some of the largest companies in the world in 20 different countries.
Tomás wants to change the software world by promoting fair play, empowering software users and championing intimate support. In 2014 Tomás set up Free ICT Europe (freeict.eu) specifically to address the lack of customer choice and perceived unfairness in the ICT secondary market, including software support, and then in 2022 a sister organisation, FreeICT USA (freeict.org). Both of these non-profits are having an impact in pushing fair repair legislation and IT choice in both Europe and the US.
